Black Pearl Records is very proud to present the new compilation-album “Die Notenbank”, which features the East-German Beat- & Rock-scene from the end of the 60´s until the early 70´s and many of their bands, with some songs that have not been released before !

“Die Notenbank” was the first german-language Rock & Beat television show for the young audience in the GDR from 1969-1972 in a total of 8 episodes, and many bands celebrated their television premieres on this show.
The concept for this program was invented by the filmmaker and Beat-music enthusiast Bernd Maywald.
The goal was to give amateur bands the opportunity to play and show their talent to a bigger audience via television, to inspire other modern beat bands to become more self-sufficient, and of course for the young people to have something to dance to.

A german b-movie action & crime soundtrack “Das Mädchen von Hongkong” / “The Girl from Hongkong” from 1973, that was never released before and shot in HongKong with an international flair and with the very famous german actor and show-man Joachim “Blacky” Fuchsberger.

The music of this soundtrack was written by Gerhard Narholz and recorded under different pseudonyms and with different groups.
Gerhard Narholz is a very famous library composer, musician and owner of the music-archive Sonoton.

The music is between typical library crime music & gangster action cinematic tunes, with very funky grooves, wah wah guitars, hamond organ riffs, fat horn stabs and fuzzy guitars and all that elements & ingredients that a gangster movie needs!

This album is mastered by Sonoton studio-engineer legend Gerhart Frei!

As a special we have 7 digital BONUS tracks in different versions or songs that will not be featured on the vinyl.

This album was never supposed to be released back in the days and the Black Pearl crew is very proud to present this unknown soundtrack pearl for the first time to music-lovers & record collectors worldwide !!!

ABAHAMBI – Freeway

Posted by roskow On July - 1 - 2013

A killer South African Jazz Funk album from Johannesburg, totally undiscovered and recorded in 1975.  The project Abahambi is a never mentioned band with the very famous bass-player Sipho Gumede, as the band leader.
Unfortunately no more recording sessions of this particular formation are known. Sipho’s reputation grew higher in the early 80s, while he produced the african Combo „Sakhile“.
Actually this is a lost & non-existing album and the Black Pearl Crew is very proud to present this forgotten black afro pearl to the Afro Funk Community once again.

This vinyl re-issue is limitted to 500 copies !!!

One of the rarest Afro-Cuban, Funk, Jazz, Fusion and Proto Disko record of the cuban Egrem archive. The most sought album, after melting down most of the copies during the worldwide oil-crises in the 70ies.

Definitely a true collector´s item of Psych Cuban Funk.

Our limited 500 pieces vinyl reissue of the Los Yoyi – album is sold out. Hopefully you can call one copy your own, because this item is as the original pressing on Areito Records still very hard to find & dig.

Thanks to all of you which supported us, the cuban funk music and the vinyl market.  The album is still digitally available at our shop !!!
